The American Language Center of Marrakesh offers three main programs: the basic program, the junior program, and the kids program.
General Overview
We offer English-language courses for students aged five and above during three, ten-week sessions per year (fall, winter and spring) and intensive sessions in June, July, August and September.

The Basic Program
Students in an adult class
|
Also referred to as the Adult Program, this is for learners aged 15 and above. The program consists of three main cycles: Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced. Each of these cycles, in turn is made up of a six levels (for example, Beginning 1, Beginning 2, etc.). Each level represents thirty hours of instruction, which can be completed in either one normal session or one accelerated (intensive) session.
At the end of each level, students must pass a final examination in order to continue to the next level.
Learners in the Basic Program study 3 hours a week at the ALC. These three hours can be either twice a week (two courses of 90 minutes each) or once a week (one course of 180 minutes, with a 10 minute break in the middle).
In addition to this regular program, the ALC also offers special classes in TOEFL preparation if there is demand, as well as private lessons on an hourly basis.
The Junior Program
Our junior classes |
For teenagers aged 10 to 14, the ALC offers a junior program. Junior classes meet once a week for 2 hours. Students come from different backgrounds and from different schools. Some may have studied English before while others may not.
Students may enter the junior program in any of the three main sessions (fall, winter, or spring) or during the Summer Intensive sessions (June and July).
The Junior Program consists of two cycles, Beginning and Intermediate. Each cycle is made up of six levels for a total of twelve levels for juniors. Once junior students reach high school, they join the equivalent adult level, which ALC coordinators and director have agreed on.
To supplement a course book specially designed for teenagers, teachers use games, songs, and other activities. Moreover, to bring back the good habit of reading, the ALC made it mandatory for intermediate juniors to buy the story assigned per level, read it and then study it in class.
Junior learners must take an end-of-term exam to move to the next level. The exam assesses the learners on all the learning skills, listening, reading, and writing. Speaking is part of the class grade. The learners need to score a minimum of 65/100 to pass. Otherwise they repeat the level, register again and pay.
Support is given for free every Sunday to the lower beginning levels, and parents are invited to check on their children’s performances by getting in touch with teachers or coordinator.
The ALC offers clubs along with indoor and outdoor extracurricular activities for the juniors to give learners chance to practice English in different circumstances.
ALC juniors are required to respect the Center’s property, to respect peers, teachers and administration staff. Any misbehavior in this regard will be responded to accordingly, and unfortunately, the ALC cannot accept responsibility for the loss of students’ belongings.
The Children’s (Kids) Program
The KIDS and TOTS programs at ALC Marrakech provide an active, engaging and fun environment for learning English.
Whilst textbooks are used to inform the course syllabus, there is a strong emphasis on using song, rhyme, story books, games and outdoor activities as language learning opportunities.
TOTS: For children aged 5 and 6, this is a fun introduction to English encouraging active speaking and listening and the development of basic writing skills.
KIDS: For 7 – 10 year olds, the KIDS program focuses on developing strong speaking, reading and writing skills.
The programs provide a solid foundation for future studies, giving kids a head start in the English language.
It is important our kids are motivated and love English!
